Pilot projects Phase II (2019-2021)
The BUILD_ME team is currently assessing and evaluating several other potential pilot projects in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon. More information and data about these new pilot projects will be published on the website on the respective project pages soon.
At the conclusion of Phase II of the BUILD_ME project, a Summary Report was prepared outlining the selection process, the technical assistance provided by the BUILD_ME team, the results of a survey with project developers, the team's conclusions, and country stories. Egypt
Cairo West Residence
A residential compound developed by ALDAU DEVELOPMENT and located on Cairo Alex desert Road in close proximity to the Grand Egyptian Museum. It consists of a diverse range of residential units in multi-family buildings and one boutique hotel. The project will also comprise of several carefully designed services and facilities. The BUILD_ME team will focus on one of buildings of Cairo West Residence.
Beverly Hills 229, Cairo
A mixed-use building developed by Emirates Realestate in Cairo. The gross floor area of the building is approximately 500 square meters. The project is under construction and the BUILD_ME team's support will focus on energy efficiency solutions for the building envelope and building systems.
Heliopolis Residence, Cairo
A mixed-use building developed by MISRALGHAD DEVELOPMENTS and located in the heart of the vibrant district of Heliopolis near the Cairo International Airport. The project offers a variety of offices, residential and commercial units of different types.
Palm Hills, Alexandria
A residential, gated compound consisting of single-family houses, multi-family houses, office parks, retail, mixed-use areas, and several amenities. The project located in Alexandria City and spreads over 638,400 square metres. The BUILD_ME team will provide energy efficiency recommendations for one of the project's buildings.
Palm Hills, BADYA
A compound consisting of villas and multi-family houses, office parks, retail, hotels, educational, health care, and mixed-use areas. The project is located in 6th of October City and spreads over 7,2 million square metres. The BUILD_ME team will focus on providing energy efficiency recommendations for one of the project buildings.
New Mansoura University, Mansoura
New Mansoura University for science and technology is developed by NUCA to be an urban catalyst for the New Mansoura city by providing an international education facility. The BUILD_ME team will work with IDG, the project architect, and focus on the 12,000 square metre library building.
Jordan
KONN Modular Houses
KONN is designed and developed by Uraiqat Architects. KONN concept represents a number of prototypes of residential single-family houses. KONN houses is envisioned to provide affordable modular housing by using smart modular construction to empower community members and provide them with alternative housing solutions.
Private Residence, Amman
A private single-family house designed by Salfiti architecture + Interior Design. The villa is located in Amman, Jordan and consists of two floors. It is an example of single-family houses in the Greater Amman Municipality.
Dar Al-Oqoud, Amman
Dar Al-Oqoud is designed and constructed by Arch. Maher Abusamra (MAS Design Studio) as a passive energy house. Dar Al-Oqoud is constructed using traditional building techniques like Islamic Mediterranean loadbearing stone walls with vaults and domes, as well as a courtyard for residential purposes
Lebanon
Collège Notre Dame de Nazareth Extension, Beirut
This educational building is located in Aschrafiyya, Beirut. The project will expand more than 11,000 square meters and will include different facilities such as a amphitheater, open plazas, and parking areas. BUILD_ME team will work with Pierre Dammous & Partners, MEP Consultant of the project, to formulate an energy efficiency concept for the building.
Arcade Suites II, Beirut
Arcade Suites II is developed by Arcade Group & Co and consists of serviced residential apartments located near Lebanese American University’s lower campus. It will include 60 apartments, a fitness center, a retail section on the ground floor, and a rooftop terrace. The project seeks the implementation of various eco-friendly innovations to reduce its impact on the environment.
Kye Beachfront Resort, Tabarja
Kye Beachfront Resort is developed by Rise Properties and Saab Marina. It is a residential resort that consists of more than 36 buildings including serviced residential apartments, chalets, and other amenities. The project is located in Tabarja, 26 km north of Beirut. The BUILD_ME team will provide energy efficiency recommendations for one of the project's buildings.
KLEOS, Beirut
KLEOS Achrafieh Apartments is developed by Hayek Group. It is a multi-story building that aims to provide luxurious family residences. It includes apartments of different sizes and some other amenities, such as a fitness center and swimming pool.The project is located near downtown Beirut. The project team endeavors to make the tower more energy efficient than the standard new construction in Beirut.
City Towers Project, Beirut
A large mixed-use building in Beirut consisting of 12 buildings, each with 13 floors. It offers residential units, offices and commercial spaces. The BUILD_ME team will provide energy efficiency recommendations for one of the project's buildings.
Frames / Baasir, Jieh
This project is a multi-family house located in the village of Jieh, which is thirty kilometers south of Beirut. The project consists of three blocks with a total GFA of more than 4,000 square metres and housing units of various sizes. The design suggests energy efficient measures such as double walls and double-glazing windows. The BUILD_ME team will work with the project architects to make Frames more energy efficient.
