Energy Efficiency Demonstration Building in Rabat

With the aim to introduce more advanced and sustainable building concepts to the Moroccan architectural landscape, the National School of Architecture (ENA) has set up an energy efficient demonstration building on its campus in Rabat. The building, which will feature the typical size of a common residential villa in the Rabat-Casablanca region i.e. 180m² living area, should not only serve as a demonstration and training platform for ENA’s students, but also animate the Moroccan construction sector to put more emphasis on energy efficient and bio climatic building concepts. While the current project focuses on climates of the Atlantic coast, it is planned that, in a future step, a concept study for similar buildings in the dry interior of the country will be carried out.
